We at CMD Studios are excited to announce the development of Fallen Tear: The Ascension, our very first independent game made wholly in-studio!
In this dark fantasy, the player will take the role of a mysterious child named ‘Hira’ as he seeks the 22 Fated Bonds to uncover his destiny and save a loved one. As Hira, you will travel to the fantastic world of Raoah, face monstrous foes, and overcome insurmountable challenges. However, the journey need not be taken alone! The Fated Bonds will assist Hira and help him grow stronger as he gains their trust.
Fallen Tear: The Ascension is our own new take on the Metroidvania genre, by introducing various classic JRPG features such as party management, progression, and character-based story development. We also aim to evoke this classic feel by using vivid, colorful 2D artwork shown in our digitally painted backgrounds and traditional style of character animation.
Fallen Tear: The Ascension is the fruit of our love for classic JRPG and Metroidvanias - and our desire to give back to the game community that made all of this possible. For this reason, we also wish to reach out to other indie devs and nurture the dreams of future would-be game developers. We hope to leave our mark on the industry and the community - to make a truly great game that everyone will enjoy.

Growing up playing classic JRPG games helps me realize how lucky I am because I found my WHY in my mid 20's. It made me want to make games! It made me wonder if I can also contribute to the gaming community to play my games and get the same experience and inspiration.
Fallen Tear is the product of that dream. It all started with a small side-scrolling project with my client called Greed Knight, a game inspired by 7 deadly sins. Starting my career as a game artist taught me that making a game would never be comfortable and accepting failures has a big part.
With all that experience working with client's game projects, I have found my confidence and made me realize that I cannot do this independently, and this time I have a fantastic team who shares the same vision. We are now ready to tell our story through this game and share what we love doing the most and hope that this game inspires other developers to continue working on their dream game.
The development team working on Fallen Tear: The Ascension is called “Winter Crew”. The team is made up of talented and passionate individuals with experience in various fields of game development. We’ve been making games for almost ten years now for various international clients. The chance to create a game we can call our own has come at last.
